ADB to Strengthen Core Mandate, Lead MSME Financing Support

Edward Ato Sarpong, Managing Director of Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) PLC, announced the bank’s plan to strengthen its role as the leading institution for agribusiness financing. He also stressed ADB’s commitment to leading MSME financial support in Ghana.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on April 19, 2025, Sarpong highlighted MSMEs’ essential role in Ghana’s job creation and poverty reduction. “MSMEs drive economic growth, and ADB is committed to expanding financing, technical support, and advisory services for entrepreneurs,” he stated.

As part of a new strategy, ADB is launching a nationwide MSME Support Program. This initiative will focus on building capacity, increasing digital access, and providing flexible credit options, especially for women and youth-led businesses.

Sarpong also mentioned that the bank is working with regulatory agencies, trade groups, and development partners to create an environment where MSMEs can thrive sustainably.

The new direction has received praise from the business community and MSME sector. ADB also showcased its technological advancements at the forum, selecting promising MSMEs for tailored financial services to support their growth.

ADB, one of Ghana’s largest banks, provides diverse services, including agribusiness financing, corporate banking, and global remittance services.
