The Council on Foreign Relations, Ghana (CFR-GHANA), paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa(MP), on Tuesday, 25th February, 2025. The five-member delegation which was led by Ambassador Kabral Blay-Amihere, included Ambassador Kwame Tenkorang, Ambassador Akua Dansua, Ambassador Yaw Odei Asare and Lady-Ann Essuman.
Welcoming the delegation, the Hon. Minister expressed his appreciation for the visit and briefed them on the outcomes of his courtesy calls to some former Ministers of Foreign Affairs, his participation in African Union’s 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council meetings in Addis Abba, during which three Ghanaians were elected to serve in various capacities at the African Union Commission.
He assured them of his constant consultation with the Council to harness their experience and contribution towards proper implementation of Ghana’s foreign policy objectives.
The Minister informed of the constitution of the Ministry’s Advisory Board, where their expertise would be vastly required, the review of Ghana’s foreign policy directive and the introduction of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for Ambassadors to guide them in the realisation of Ghana’s foreign policy and economic diplomacy objectives among others. He intimated that the Ministry would be consulting with the Council on measures to take for the full operationalisation of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).
On his part, Ambassador Kabral-Blay, extended congratulations to the Hon. Minister on behalf of the Council and recounted that the Foreign Ministry had the best professional group which would continue to excel under his able-leadership.
He expressed appreciation to the Ministry for the immense support accorded to the Council since its inception.
He indicated that the Council envisions the Foreign Service Institute as a centre of excellence for diplomats in the sub-region thus, the Council is ready to work with the Ministry to develop the curriculum for the Institute.
