Finance Minister Inaugurates New GRA Board Under Kweku Ricketts-Hagan

On April 19, 2025, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson inaugurated the newly appointed board of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South, will lead the board as Chairman.

In his speech, Dr. Forson urged the board to collaborate closely with GRA management to ensure full automation of the authority. He believes automation will improve efficiency and performance in collecting taxes.

“We aim to increase tax revenue by 0.6 percent of GDP annually. To meet this target, we must modernize GRA’s operations,” said Dr. Forson. He added that achieving this goal requires not only system upgrades but a total transformation of GRA’s operations.

He emphasized that a modern, efficient, and automated GRA will simplify tax collection, reduce avoidance, and improve the taxpayer experience.

Chairman Ricketts-Hagan reassured that the board would use technology to increase revenue mobilization. He also expressed commitment to supporting GRA’s operations in this endeavor.

Other board members include Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare (Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry), Francis Xavier Sosu (MP for Madina), and Anthony Kwasi Sarpong (GRA Commissioner General), among others.
